Applying for a Job

Please complete an online job application by clicking on the above link.  If you are unable to complete an application online, applications for current openings can be obtained in person at City Hall or by contacting the City Human Resources Director, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 541-996-1201.   Applicant materials may also be emailed, mailed or faxed to you.  Applications can only be accepted for current open positions.

 

Completed applications must be filed with the Human Resources Director, City of Lincoln City, PO Box 50, Lincoln City, Oregon, 97367 by 5:00 p.m. on the Closing Date, unless otherwise noted on the job announcement.   Resumes may be submitted with the application but are not accepted in lieu of a completed City application and supplemental documentation, if required.  Faxed applications are also accepted at fax number 541.996.1256.

Please do not call to check on the status of your application.  You will be notified by phone or mail of your status.

 

Selection Process

Each position that we hire has its own screening committee. After the first review date or Closing Date has passed, the committee will begin reviewing the applications and determining who they would like to invite for interviews.  This may take several weeks after the first date has passed. 

Applications will usually be screened for the required knowledge, skills, abilities and training at least twice during the initial phase of our process.  Only the best qualified applicants will continue with the selection process, which will include structured interviews and reference and background checks.  Some positions may require various written and aptitude tests.  If you are among the finalists, you will be notified usually within three weeks after the closing date.  If you are not a finalist, you will be notified by mail.  All applications will remain on file for one year.    Hiring may be contingent upon a satisfactory medical exam, psych and pre-employment drug screen.

 

Compensation

Under normal circumstances, an employee will be appointed at the first step of the salary range as it appears on the Job Announcement.  If a Department Head believes it is necessary to make an appointment above the first step, the Human Resources Director and the City Manager must approve the request.  In reviewing such requests, consideration will be given to qualifications of a candidate, market conditions and internal relationships with similar positions.
