Employment Opportunities
Current Job Openings and Online Application
Online Applications
Please refer to How to Apply for a Job with Lincoln City if you are having difficulties applying through our online job application site.
Selection Process
Once the position closes, Human Resources reviews the applications and rates them based on whether the applicant meets the minimum qualifications, job experience, and if the applicant meets the desirable qualifications. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications may be forwarded to the Department Head for further consideration. Applicants who meet the desirable qualifications are given higher priority over applicants who only meet the minimum qualifications.
It is a very competitive job market and meeting minimum qualifications does not necessarily entitle an applicant to an interview. If there is a large pool of applicants who meet the desirable qualifications they will more than likely be chosen for an interview over applicants who only meet the minimum qualifications. The hiring process can take several weeks based on Department Head schedules. All applicants will be notified by email regarding the status of their application as the hiring process moves through the various stages.
Applications will usually be screened for the required knowledge, skills, abilities and training at least twice during the initial phase of our process. Only the best qualified applicants will continue with the selection process, which will include structured interviews and reference and background checks. Some positions may require various written and aptitude tests. All applications will remain on file for one year. Hiring may be contingent upon a satisfactory medical exam, psych and pre-employment drug screen.
Employee will be appointed at the first step of the salary range as it appears on the Job Announcement. If a Department Head believes it is necessary to make an appointment above the first step, the City Manager must approve the request. In reviewing such requests, consideration will be given to qualifications of a candidate, market conditions and internal relationships with similar positions.
