Previously referred to as Vacation Rental Dwellings (VRDs)

A Short Term Rental is defined in Lincoln City as a dwelling unit that is used, rented, or occupied on a daily or weekly basis for rental periods of 30 days or less. STRs are allowed in various zones in Lincoln City, subject to a number of land use, building, and licensing requirements. Zones that allow STRs as permitted uses include the following:

  •  General Commercial (GC)
  •  Recreation Commercial (RC)
  •  Nelscott Business District (NBD)
  •  Taft Village Core (TVC)
  •  Nescott Mixed Use (NBMU)
  •  Single-Unit Residential (R1-5)*
  •  Oceanlake Main Street (OP MSH)
  •  Single-Unit Residential Roads End (R1-RE)*
  •  Oceanlake Oceanfront (OP OF)

*Lincoln City City Council has placed a cap on the number of STRs allowed in these zones. The cap in the R1-5 zone is 194 and the cap in the R1-RE zone is 91. The cap has been reached, so no new licenses will be issued in these zones until the number of licensed STRs falls below the cap.  For more information regarding applications in these areas go here:
