12.14.2024 SCDP Playground Opening & Ribbon Cutting

The new Schooner Creek Discovery Park is located at 4815 SE 51^st Street, Lincoln City, OR 97367.

As of Summer 2024, we are in Phase 1 of the 3 Phased Park Project. Phase 1 construction broke ground on June 20^th, with a well-attended Groundbreaking Celebration. Phase 1 is expected to complete by the end of Fall 2024, with the 1^st new inclusive and accessible playground on the Oregon Coast being opened to the public. Final park design revealed at 'Party in the Park' event on 8/29/23.

We hosted six (6) public community events.

06/20/2024: Groundbreaking Ceremony in the Park. Work on the Phase I inclusive and accessible playground started.

4/19/2024: A Silent Auction & Social Hour, New Park Fundraiser Kickoff was held at Chinook winds Casino Resort. Thanks to all who attended and supported our park! A special thanks to Chinook Winds Casino Resort for providing the venue and event service free of charge.
02/28/2024: Parks & Recreation held an Open House on February 28, 2024 to show the proposed design for the 1^st inclusive and accessible playground in Lincoln City, to be constructed at the New Community Park.

4/28/23: Public Community Workshop I (Programming of Park) at Community Center, 5:00pm (in conjunction with our Arbor Day event).

Community Park in Taft - Public Process Schedule

The development and construction of the new Schooner Creek Discovery Park is stated as the #1 goal of the 2016 Lincoln City Parks System Plan, and will address a recreation gap in the southern part in the City.

In December 2020, Lincoln City was able to purchase the land from LCSD.

$2k for 'World's Shortest Trail' - Oregon Parks Foundation
$5k grant funding - Friends of LCP&R and Marie Lamfrom
$3k grant funding - Pacific Power Foundation
