Patrol Division
The Uniformed Patrol Division is the backbone of the Lincoln City Police Department and is the largest section within the department.
The safety and protection of Lincoln City residents and guests is Patrol's highest priority. The goal of the Patrol Division is to provide the highest quality professional services to all in keeping with the Lincoln City Police Department Anchors: Loyalty, Compassion, Pride, Dedication,Courage, Accountability, Respect, Excellence and Service.
Patrol strives to improve the safety of the community within the limits of available resources by:
Proactively Addressing Criminal Activity through:
- Directed Patrol that is focused on the prevention of criminal acts and the apprehension of criminal offenders.
- Effectively using crime analysis tools to ensure proper allocation for patrol resources.
- Crime prevention activities such as residential inspections, business inspections, community presentations, etc.
- Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving activities such as citizen assists and individual citizen contacts of a positive nature.
- The application of resources to specific problems or situations within the community, which may be improved or resolved by Community Oriented Policing and problem solving strategies.
Increasing Traffic Safety within the community by reducing the number and severity of motor vehicle crashes through:
- Enhanced, selective and saturation patrols to ensure speed compliance.
- Focused patrols directed to gain compliance in areas such as Crosswalks, Seatbelt enforcement, DUII driving and commercial vehicle safety.
- Improving public education and awareness in areas such as child seat safety, teen driver education and bicycle safety.
Ensuring the Safety of Our Schools through:
- Maintaining and improving the Lincoln City Police Department's School Resource Officer and D.A.R.E. programs.
- Developing and training on Crisis Response Plans.
- Maintaining a Zero-Tolerance for all MIPs within our jurisdiction.
Improving the Level of General Livability within Lincoln City by:
- The maintenance of public order.
- The discovery and mitigation of hazardous situations or conditions.
- Identifying problem areas and gaining compliance with Lincoln City Municipal Codes.
- Addressing complaints such as nuisances, noise ordinance, civil disputes and animal control problems.
In addition to the core uniformed patrol functions, many additional special duty assignments are available, such as:
- Tactical Response Team
- Major vehicle crash investigations
- Field Training Officer
- Drug Recognition Experts
Officers can also enjoy a wide variety of instructor positions in fields such as Firearms, Defensive Tactics, TASER and other skills.
