Lincoln City’s Parks Crew began work the week of May 23, 2016 on improvements to the Regatta Park playgrounds. These improvements include new surfacing and some new equipment. The Playground area was completed during the Summer of 2017 and construction began on a new ADA parking area for the playground in December, 2017.
The new playground includes:
- Replacement of the wood chips in the upper playground with a new surface.
- Addition of new pieces playground equipment:
- Heavy Duty Swing: 4-swing set with a galvanized steel top rail and additional legs for greater strength.
- Hoopla Swing: The Hoopla Swing provides an inclusive motion experience for up to six children to enjoy. The shape of the swing provides extra support for children with disabilities.
- Whirligig: The Whirligig offers a fun-filled and social motion experience that improves coordination and balance.
- Spin Cup: The Spin Cup provides a fun spinning motion experience for kids.
- Cozy Cocoon: The Cozy Cocoon offers a place of escape from over-stimulation in the playground.
The new surface is SMARTE Surfacing, a hybrid turf that provides safer fall protection. The turf will also provide an accessible surface and better drainage.
The new parking area will provide an ADA van accessible parking spot and two regular parking spots.
What to Expect During Construction
Even though the playground area is complete, construction will continue around the ADA access ramp and parking area to the southeast of the site. Please supervise children closely.
- Construction will create noise, vibration, and dust.
- Heavy construction machinery and crews will be on-site.
- Construction area will feature uneven and hazardous terrain. Please supervise children at the playground and keep clear of construction area at all times.
