ADA.gov logoThe Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was first enacted in 1990. The Act was amended in 2008 and is now known as the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA). It is a Federal Law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in employment, public accommodations and state and local government operations and services. One of the important goals of this law is to ensure that all individuals with disabilities are able to access public programs and services.

The City of Lincoln City strives to make our facilities easily accessible to all. For example, our swimming pool, located at the Community Center, has a lift to help our customers with disabilities get in and out of the main pool and instructional pool. We will continue to improve the accessibility of the Community Center and our other facilities.

In November of 2016, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Disabilities Rights Oregon settled a lawsuit that will make Oregon's transportation system more accessible to people with disabilities. Please visit ORDOT Disabilities Rights for the press release from ODOT concerning the settlement.
