The City of Lincoln City Statement of Compliance
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a federal law enacted in 1990 that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in employment, public accommodations and state and local government operations and services. Under the ADA, anyone who has a physical or mental impairment substantially limiting one or more major life activities, has a record of such impairment or is regarded as having such impairment; is considered a person with a disability. In terms of employment, the law defines a qualified individual with a disability as a person who can perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. Under the ADA, it is unlawful to discriminate in employment against individuals with disabilities or to refuse to reasonably accommodate the known disability of an otherwise qualified individual, unless to do so causes an undue hardship.
The City of Lincoln City will also ensure that there is no discrimination against a qualified individual with a disability in the programs, services or activities it provides. The City of Lincoln City is committed to accommodating the known disabilities of its employees and citizens. The ADA requires that the City of Lincoln City’s programs, services and activities be accessible to persons with disabilities.
City employees and citizens with ADA-related questions, concerns and grievances should contact the City’s ADA Coordinator. To the extent possible, the City of Lincoln City will work to amicably resolve all employee grievances and citizen complaints.
